Jonathan Duhamel may be the crowning glory of Canada for having won the WSOP Main Event and the nearly $9 million that came with it, but many other Canadians had great performances at the 2010 WSOP. For a country of 36 million, Canadians won 6 bracelets, more than any other country than the US.  They won over $22 million in prize money and had a ton of final table appearances to back up the gold bracelet wins.

Event #3 (NL Hold'em - $1,000)
Aadam Daya - Mississauga, Ontario

Event #8 (NL Hold'em - $1,500)
Pascal LeFrancois - Rosemere, Quebec

Event #28 (PL Omaha - $2,500)
Miguel Proulx - St. Charles, Quebec

Event #36 (NL Hold'em - $1,000)
Scott Montgomery - Perth, Ontario

Event #44 (Mixed Hold'em - $2,500)
Gavin Smith - Guelph, Ontario

Event #57 (NL Hold'em World Championship Main Event - $10,000)
Jonathan Duhamel - Boucherville, Quebec

Event #5 - 2nd place Vincent Jacques (Quebec)

Event #12 - 3rd place Terrence Chan (Vancouver, BC)

Event #20 - 3 Canadians at final table with Nenad Medic (Niagara Falls, ON) coming in 4th

Event #29 - 2nd place Daniel Idema (Vancouver, BC)

Event #38 - 2nd place Matt Marafioti (Toronto, ON)

Event #47 - 2nd place Owen Crowe (Dartmouth, NS)

Event #52 - 2nd place Shawn Buchanan (Abbotsford, BC)

Event #55 - 2nd Miguel Proulx (St. Charles, QC) also won Event #28

For a country that has had Daniel Negreanu be the face of poker for years, it seems that many younger Canadian poker players are asserting themselves now and ready to pick up the mantle.  Other talented players include Micke McDonald, Steve Paul-Ambrose and William Ma.

It will be interesting to see the affect of having a Quebecer win the Main Event and if a new poker boom will start up north.

There are a lot of young online grinders only in Quebec which it's pretty good. Imagine the rest of the Canada.
