One of the few places that poker hasn't caught on seriously is on the African continent.  That is changing now with two visible events going on this month.  Later in November the WPT in concert with Chilipoker is presenting the second year of the Marrakech event in Morocco November 27th to 30th.

The other end of the continent has a more fervent following for poker developing in South Africa. The World Series of Poker is holding a Circuit event at the Emerald Resort and Casino in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng, South Africa.

WSOP Africa consists of two events. The first, was the $1,100 buy-in Pot-Limit Omaha tournament with re-buys.  It was won by Felipe Ramos, a Brazilian.

The $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em freezeout Main Event kicks off on Thursday, October 28th with a maximum of 500 players starting with 40,000 chips.  This will be a four day event; the field will be narrowed to the final nine by the end of day three, with the final table competition beginning at 10:30am local time on October 31st.
