The play was fast and furious amongst the record setting 872 entrants on Day 1 of the WSOP Circuit Hammond main event. Only 162 players made it to day two, less than 20% of players at the Horseshoe Hammond stop in Chicago. Notable Day 1 bust outs included Jason Mercier, Faraz Jaka, Tom Marchese, and Kyle Bowker.

The chip leader heading into Day 2 was Jim Kasputis with 360k, closely followed by Rajko Bozic with 350k. In third were two players Daniel Schacher and Joseph Roppolo, both at 303k, fifth was Gordon Vayo at 290k, sixth was Richard Rockwood 282k, seventh was Aaron Steury at 276k, eighth was Daniel Cohen at 265k, ninth was Kenneth Coppens at 246k and tenth was Albert Lucenti at 245k.

Play began just as quickly on Day 2, whitling down from 162 to just 126 after the first level of play with Nick Jivkov currently surging to the lead with 575k.
