Kwinsee Khoa Tran, a 37 year old mortgage broker from Orange County, California, won the LA Poker Open main event held at the Commerce Casino. Tran says he spends about 80% of his time playing poker these days and it seems to have paid off.

Kwinsee Khoa Tran  collected $178,830 for the win, bringing his career winnings to over $650,000.

Notables that played this event included Matt Affleck, Kevin Saul, Sorel Mizzi, Phil Laak, Men Nguyen and Sam Stein.

Once again it's been proven that the local players can compete with the best in the world at Commerce," said Tournament Director Matt Savage.

Savage continued "Kwinsee had quite a roller coaster ride to the title, proving that playing in smaller events is a great way to prepare for major championships. With this victory he has truly graduated to the next level."

Commerce Casino's LA Poker Open awarded more than $1.3 million over the course of 18 events. Next up at Commerce is the LA Poker Classic Jan. 19- Mar. 3.

Here's how the LA Poker Open final table finished up:

1 Kwinsee Khoa Tran $178,830

3 Ray Qartomy $65,380

4 Todd Breyfogle $46,420
