Annie Duke's new league is under way, but can it last? Check out this post I read on another site http://www.pokerforum.net/discussions/1333:is-epic-league-poker-in-trouble

I read the link but I don't think the league is neccessarily in trouble yet. It's the first event, who's to say that it won't build momentum? It's unlikely you're gunna hit it out of the ballpark your first at bat.

The current chip leaders are some major big name pros. which makes me think, do you guys think that some top pros will avoid some of these tournaments just because the competition is so great? Wouldn't it stand to reason that if they play tournaments or cash games with people not in the league they can maximize theri profits because they'll be playing rich business men, not top pro's?

I think is a challenge for them even those are hard fields... Otherwise could be just bumhunting and this is not poker. You never evolve if you just trying to play with people much weeaker then you. So thumbs up for those fighter pros!
I did it!

Negreanu thinks the league has no chance, thus the reason for his absence. Not a good sign. If the most marketable players, like Negreanu, don't want to associate with an enterprise that see is a guarantee failure then there really is no chance.

But most players don't have to worry about that because they don't carry the brand the Negreanu does.

The second event was not so great eithe for the EPL. Only 97 entries... Not looking so good for the new league.

Who won that second tournament? I saw some chip leader boards early on, no huge names, but I never saw the final results.

Did you hear about the guy that was suspended for being a sex offender? They have a guy, Chino Rheem, win the first event who owes everyone money and not in high esteem in the poker world win the first event and now this...

Yeah definitely not the ideal way to start the league.
