Friday was Day 1 of the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.  Lowering the buy-in from $15k to $10k increased the field size substantially from 329 players to 391 players.

Only 50 players will make the money since they didn't reach 400 players, which would have triggered 100 players making the money.

Ryan D’Angelo is the leader heading into Day 2 with 192,500 chips after busting Joseph Cheong in a massive pot at the end of Day 1. Ami Alibay is close behind him though with 185,200.  Albert Kim appears to round out the top three with 157,100 chips. Some other notable players who fared well on Day 1include Antonio Esfandiari (149,500), Phil Ivey (143,225), Michael Gracz (138,850), Matt Keikoan (133,775), Kirk Morrison (130,075) and Justin Young (131,200).

There are 330 of the 391 entrants remaining in the field. Play will resume at noon on Saturday and play down 5 more levels.
