According to a report issued by consulting firm Richard K. Miller and Associates (RKMA), roughly 70% of U.S. adults placed a wager of some type in 2009. Those adults wagered approximately $900 billion at casinos, racetracks, lotterg games and other forms of legal betting like poker.  That total did not include the $100-$300 billion wagered annually in the US on sporting events, or the $100 billion in online bets.

The entities accepting all this gambling, earned $80.5 billion in revenue, with casinos earning the bulk of it at $57.5 billion.  Card rooms featuring poker were only $1.1 billion of that total.  The split is pretty even amongst casinos and tribal casinos at $30.7 vs. $26.8 billion.
