For me, sport involves physical activity, so poker is a game, not a sport.

Any game that you sit for hours is no sport.now if they all had to run around a track betwwen hands to make it to the next round, that might be a sport. Sitting around a table throwing poker chips and cards is definetly not a sport.

I strongly disagree. Poker is nowhere near a sport. Sports require a physical effort (greater than sitting down and staying awake...), skill and technique. Poker has no physical effort, sure it takes skill and technique, but anyone can just play poker, and win!! No amateur can waltz in pro Hockey, football, baseball or soccer and just be good, or win for that matter!! If anyone considers poker a sport, I challenge them to come play a hockey game with me. Especially Hellmuth. :)) Cheers.
