i have the worst luck playing live games it doesnt matter what cards i have i always get screwd for example i have QQ my opponent has k8 he was being an idiot preflop and trying to bet me off the pot the flop comes down QKK i still have him dominated then the turn is a miracle 8 which screws me big time and lets just say a Q didnt come on the river

OUCH! Do you feel that happens more often in live games than on-line games?

Unlucky aces1030. Don't give up on the live games though mate. The thing is there are idiots everywhere, both playin live and online, and the rule of "You can't bluff a bad player" has to be understood. There are so many beginners at the game that for example chase down an A holdin AK even though flop and turn shows nothin for them and theres been 3 way heavy betting uip to that point, and still stick in (I've even seen someone call all in after river, when they havent even made a pair, hooldin AK..only to be beat by a rag FullHouse because they slow played PreFlop) because sooooo many people get overy fond of that hand. The same goes for pocket pairs; even though overcards are out there and large bets have been placed they still hang in there. Take comfort though, Just play tighter..as I do at my weekly live games, because these players a lot more often than not dont reach the final table etc. or lose a shed load at cash games. Another thing with Live games I've found which is beneficail is that Macho Bravado comes into a lot of players mindsets. i.e so as not to be seeing as wimping out the pot, they stay in for pride I imagine...which is great.IDIOTS!!! The Most Important thing amount LIVE games though is it's a great socialising vehicle, where you meet and become familiar with people who love the game like you. You get a lot better banter playin LIVE than ONLINE. Don't stick to the same strategy as playing ONLINE. Stick with it mate. Live and Learn to play it to your advantage.

I prefer live games only for the tells, onine for the limit games is profitable for me as well. As a poker dealer I could almost tell you which player is going to win the pot by where they put their chips etc etc. and it helps me out a lot in live limit games. cheers..jeff

i used to be a pretty good live player for years but that all changed when i started to play online. i dont dare play live anymore with the fear of losing money but playing online has been very rewarding for me. i have managed to cash about 4oo between may 1st through august playing low stake no limit ring games. i find that freerolls are very hard to cash in with all the all-in crazies out there. seeya at the tables

you are crazy if you think the bad beats are worse at a live game then on the interet. I have seen the most unbelievable garbage on the internet, and and not just in freerolls.

The only problem with this is they never show the "tight" folds. Only the exciting hands, if you really saw how much these guys fold, you'd be bored stiff. cheers..jeff

Live poker is what most of us Americans are going to have to turn to now. I prefer live poker myself, definitly. There are just alot of perks to playing online. Like siting in your underwear. Hopefully alot more Live games will be popping up in the neighborhood. Think about it if you ever plan on becoming a famous poker player you just cant do it sitting in front of your computer in your underwear.
They say if you can't spot the sucker within 30 minutes, you're it. I saw 9 of them the second I sat down. -Vaughn
