How long is a losing run

How long can a losing run last?

I had a bad run that lasted 5 months. Than I ran well for about a month and endured another bad run for 4 months.

Essentially a bad run can last a long long time. I've heard stories of pros running poorly for over a year.

It depend what you mean, I guess you can win here and there but getting out of a really bad streak can't take long!

well, if you are not a real pro the longer it last you will be worse so i advise you a break and hand analazing during breaks.

i had few bad runs that lasted from month to two month in cash games.

in tournaments its much worse, sometimes i go out on 5-10% opponent chance for more than 5 tournaments in a row.

My bad run is always between 1-2 weeks. But my tourney bad run... Thats longer... I wasnt ITM on 18 tour in a row... That was very bad...:(

i don't know about you but me, i think i never hand a long losing run, of corse one bad bead or maybe two/day may happen but a long losing run i never had , 4 days of ending the day with - but not big minus.

I always make good money from poker from the beginning but i have a bad run for about 4/5 moths now. because of players as DINGUS and sevral pro-pllayers i'm still playing because i know it's not me do it wrong!

So I guess you can lose your whole life in NL Hold Em haha :)

I think its important to differentiate the difference between a bad run and bad play. While bad streaks can happen if its been going on for longer than 4~5 sessions of poker I think at that point its time to stop playing and analyze your play. If you've been losing for more than a month its time to slow down and figure out whats wrong with your game. Find out what is really bad luck and what is bad play.

I read something by Tom McEvoy I believe, where he stated that he didn't cash for nearly 2 years in tournament play, not the same as online play given the number of tournies available here but you get the idea.  Cash game is different, cause it is possible and sometimes easy to do the old smash and run.  Win some at a table leave, find a new table win some and leave.

You definitely do need to evaluate your play should you endure a bad run. In my case, I did a lot of analysis and although my play at times was suspect, overall I was putting myself into good situations and just not having the preferred outcome.

In all fairness though, for me a bad run is anytime that I don't cashout, there were times in there when I ran even, it wasn't like I was losing the entire time, lol.

i usually lose my whole bankroll in a week when it begins so i dont know how long it lasts
