I have noticed in some tourneys the prizepool works something like this 1st - Qualifier to main event ($5000 tourney) 2nd - $10 3rd - $7.50 you get what I mean. do u try and go fo first to get the qualier where you are guaranteed nothing, could miss the game or not be in to take part. OR do you try for second and take the cash jasta

Pick a hand, any hand...... In my right hand is $5K, in my left is $10, the choice is yours....... If you don't want the entry ticket (and free holiday) then play in a standard MTT or STT and take the first place prize money there.

but what if its a freeroll tourney and not a satellite, you say 10 k in one hand and $10 in the other, theres no guarantee of winning the 10K. half of the players either end up sitting out or not using their tokens anyway. If you think about it winning a token is like gambling and therefore your token could turn out useless. Then again if you value the competitive side, then fair enough go for the win. Jasta

jeff in your example it would be silly to take the cash, but i've got a real situation that happened to me before, and this is tough for someone that doesn't have a huge bankroll like myself. Pokerroom had qualifiers for the wsop like this 1st level -- $6 buy in, 1 in 10 go to next level----------i qualified 2nd level-- $40 buy in, 1 in 10 go to next level--------i qualified however there was 20 people in it and 2nd paid $290, 3rd like $110 something like that i pondered losing heads up because my bankroll at the time was nothing and i don't have a lot of money to start up a new bankroll. I did win though and got put out in final qualifier in 31st place out of 100+ people. Only top 2 got tickets to wsop but hey i don't get that chance often so i took it
