So, taking the situation I outlined above, you'd go all-in, despite the fact that folding would guarantee you entry to the main event, whereas playing the hande would bring with it a 50% (ish) chance of missing out?
Very strange logic going on in this thread.

Why should i fold the best hand?
No. Never.

Lucky me, I lost some hands with AA but but I would never fold if I had that cards. In this case I think we are talking about other's luck (when losing with AA). But, over all.... is the best hand and I have to go on (all in), no matter what.

You guys who would never fold AA - you need to look at the bigger picture. In a tournement you dont win in one hand, you win over a series of hands and the best strategy sometimes is to survive. The more players there are in a hand, the more likely it is that AA will be beaten. If, as happens in play money games, 5 or 6 players have gone allin before you on a sit and go which pays the top 3, would you call? I probably would not as the chances of AA holding up are slim, and my chances of at least placing have gone up a huge amount.

You have to wait for the river. This is my opinion. Don't go all in at the begining.it is to risky

Didn't read many of the posts, but there is always a reason to fold AA preflop in a tourney
Fold AA if you are close to making the money and only a few more people need to get eliminated to get paid (unless you have a huge chip advantage, or its heads up)........especially for multi way pots where you can't isolate
if the difference between you going broke and someone else going broke means a huge difference in your payout
if you are looking at a multi way pot with no chance of pushing people out of the hand due to stack size and the above point applies.
Don't get me wrong, I would have an extremely difficult time folding AA, but if I was thinking clearly then I think I could make the laydown. I'm sure all of you can agree, the best hand doesn't always hold up, that reason enough for me to fold it from time to time.
It's easier to fish if you're the one casting the reel.

only time i would ever fold AA would be if it was some kind of qualifier and only a few people were left to be eliminated and i had a few rounds before being blinded out

It's a matter of odds. If you're in a situation where folding has a better than 80-90% chance of attaining your objective - a satellite seat being the classic example - then folding is mathematically sound since the card odds are usually lower.
Cheers!

I think i will fold AA if there is already 4+ allins in front of me. AA vs 4+ players.. wont do that much

There really aint very many times you should ever fold AA preflop. You most likely are so ahead maybe even something like a 6-1,7-1 favorite

The only time I have ever folded AA pre flop was when there were so many sitouts that I had to share the blinds with another dude...Hate sitouts...

I would at least see the flop normally. Only time I would fold AA would be there are tournaments that top 11 get into a bigger tournament and if I did lose I would miss the top 11th spot. Did it once and ended up in 11th spot and got to the next stage. mug59
