When the final day of play in the $5,000 Seven Card Stud Event #10, sixteen player remained in the field. Among them were several big names including Bryn Kenney, Jeff Lisandro, John Monnette, Nick Schulman, Mike Sexton, Eugene Katchalov, Max Pescatori, and Cyndy Violette, each looking to walk away with a new gold bracelet and the $190,826 in first place prize money.
John Monnette was looking to take home his second career WSOP bracelet, having won his first in the 2011 $2,500 Eight-Game Mix event. And when the final card was dealt he did just that. The hand wasn't a terribly exciting one, but as if often the case, it is the outcome that really matters.
Monnette's heads-up opponent Hu Vihn brought in with the 3 of hearts and moved his last 100,000 in chips into the pot. Monnette raised to complete the action and all the chips went in the middle. The boards ran out Qc-8h/3h-Kd-5c-4s/7s for Vinh and Ac-Qh/Jc-6d-Jd-8c/9h for Monnette.
Monnettes pair of jacks, the same hand he won his first bracelet with, was good enough once again as he added another bracelet to his wrist and $190,826 to his bankroll.
